Adventureland is located…

  • 2s and 3s have class on the lower level of the main worship center near the nursery
  • 4s, 5s, and Kindergarteners have classes on the upper level of the south building (the one closest to the lawn)

Overview

Children in Adventureland have fun learning and beginning a life-long adventure with our loving God and His Son Jesus Christ through age-appropriate teaching and activities.

Program

Checking In Your Child

Village uses a computerized check in system with pagers to ensure that children are only released to the person that signed them in and so that you can be discreetly notified if your child needs you. If you have children in different programs, you can check them all in at one time on one computer and then drop them off individually at their designated rooms.

On your first visit, please fill out a registration form. Your information will be entered into the computer, making your next check in quicker.

Storytime

Preschoolers will be introduced to Bible stories and the lessons they offer during an interactive Bible storytime that incorporates both listening and questions and answers.

Craft/Activity

To help make the story/lesson memorable, children will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned during a craft or hands-on activity that is related to that day’s story/lesson.

Snack Time

Each Adventureland class includes a designated snack time with snacks provided by Village such as graham crackers, rice crispy treats, fruit snacks, cupcakes, etc.

ALLERGIES: We ask that you let us know about any allergies your child has on your registration form. That information will be entered into the computer system and printed on your child’s tag each time you check your child in. We also ask that you let your child’s teacher know about the allergy when you drop your child off. We make every effort to provide allergy-safe snacks. You are welcome to provide an alternate snack for your child to best meet your child’s needs.

Diapers/Bathroom

For children still in diapers, please provide diapers when you check in your child. Your child will be changed if needed.

Children who are toilet-trained will go to the restroom with a “buddy” (another child from the class of the same sex) escorted by a teacher or teacher’s aide, who will remain outside the restroom.

Health and Wellness

In order to maintain the high standards of hygiene and care that is so important to your child’s well-being and health, we ask you to keep your child at home when you observe any of the following:

  • Fever (no fever for 24 hours prior to bringing child)
  • Diarrhea and/or vomiting
  • Runny nose or eye drainage
  • Any questionable rash
  • Flu symptoms: listless, no appetite
  • Any contagious diseases

If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified promptly.  If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, they should have received treatment for at least 24 full hours before coming into the nursery.

For your child’s protection, we ask our teachers and aides to follow these same guidelines.

Safety

All of our staff and volunteers complete a child protection and safety training class prior to working with children at Village. This includes completing a criminal background check and review of personal references. All volunteers must also have attended Village regularly for at least six months.

Time To Go Home

When you return to the class, present your numbered tag to the teacher or teacher’s aide at the door and tell them your child’s name. The teacher will call your child to the door and check that the tags match.  Siblings under the age of 12 are not allowed to pick up younger children.
