In Promiseland, elementary school children grow together as they discover God’s promise for each child. The program features fun and games, an activity hour, Bible lessons, and for older kids inductive and doctrinal studies.
Program
Checking In Your Child
Village uses a computerized check in system with pagers to ensure that children are only released to the person that signed them in and so that you can be discreetly notified if your child needs you. If you have children in different programs, you can check them all in at one time on one computer and then drop them off individually at their designated rooms.
On your first visit, please fill out a registration form. Your information will be entered into the computer, making your next check in quicker.
Tons of Fun Zone
The Tons of Fun Zone creates an opportunity for children to enter a welcoming, non-threatening environment. Children can engage in high-interest activities like games, crafts, and special events. Though these games have a link to the Bible stories in the curriculum, they do not require any previous knowledge or specialized skill. TONS OF FUN ZONE is not so much a time to hone skills, but a time to build relationships with adult leaders and peers.
Large Group
Large group is a high energy time that is going to capture the imaginations of the children and open their eyes and hearts to Biblical truths that will impact their lives in incredible ways! Children spend time worshipping through music and hearing the biblical teaching. Teaching the Bible creatively is a core value of the Promiseland program. In LIVE THE ADVENTURE!, the teaching is done through various means of drama.
Small Group/Shepherding Groups
Small Group/Shepherding Groups are a highly interactive time facilitated by gifted age-graded leaders called shepherds. These leaders will build a bridge between the teaching time and life application by using questions and activities that are specifically age designed. Intentional shepherding means making a commitment to stay with a group of kids to disciple them and help them become more like Christ. While volunteers of Promiseland strive to provide important biblical information in a creative way that is relevant to a child’s life, they also understand that building a relationship with a child may be the most effective teaching tool of all. But that’s just the beginning. Shepherds have the awesome privilege, as authentic Christ followers, of representing Jesus as we meet and talk with children each week and model what it means to be a follower of Christ.
Health and Wellness
In order to maintain the high standards of hygiene and care that is so important to your baby’s well-being and health, we ask you to keep your child at home when you observe any of the following:
- Fever (no fever for 24 hours prior to bringing child)
- Diarrhea and/or vomiting
- Runny nose or eye drainage
- Any questionable rash
- Flu symptoms: listless, no appetite
- Any contagious diseases
If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified promptly. If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, they should have received treatment for at least 24 full hours before coming into the nursery.
For your child’s protection, we ask our caregivers to follow these same guidelines.
Safety
All of our staff and volunteers complete a child protection and safety training class prior to working with children at Village. This includes completing a criminal background check and review of personal references. All volunteers must also have attended Village regularly for at least six months.
Time To Go Home
You will pick up your child up in the Fellowship Hall on the lower level of the Chapel building, rather than the FunZone where you dropped them off. At the classroom, present your numbered tag to the teacher or teacher’s aide at the door and tell them your child’s name. The teacher will call your child to the door and check that the tags match. Siblings under the age of 12 are not allowed to pick up younger children.
