Life verse: Romans 12:1-2 – “Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”

Testimony:

My life as a Believer in Christ is what I would call a work-in-progress.  I prayed to invite Jesus into my heart around the age of six, so I can’t point to some radical transformation where my life was a disaster before and a vision of sainthood after.  I just think the journey began at that time.  When I was about 12, I rededicated my life to Christ with a better understanding of what it meant.  I understood my sinful shortcomings, his loving forgiveness and that living for Him would mean dying to self.

God has been constantly working in my life since those early decisions.  Chipping away here, polishing up there and completely hacking off the really ugly parts.  He has helped me to make some good decisions and helped correct some very poor decisions.  God has given me some gifts that I am trying to use to serve Him and He patiently works on the underutilized abilities that could bring Him glory.  I am thankful that being a follower of Christ is not a onetime transformation, but a lifelong process of development and growth.  Jesus has given me peace, joy and assurance in my life that could come from no other source.  I continue to learn and grow as I see His loving hand in my life.

Who are the important people in your life? I’ve been married to my wife Pamela for 17 years. We have two boys: Isaac is 9 and Trevor is 7.

What is your day job? I am a Business Development Manager for stereoscopic 3D displays at Planar Systems.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy running, hiking, cycling, spending time with friends/family and travel.

What do you love to do in ministry? I enjoy leadership. Sometimes that is one-on-one helping someone choose between two paths. Sometimes it’s facilitating a small group discussion.  It may be leading a committee to work through a task.  Or it may be leading the church in Christ centered prayer.

What is something most people don’t know about you? My first car was a 1982 Datsun 200SX.

How did you first come to Village? Why did you stay? My family came to Village in 1976 after moving to the area.  We stayed because we were invited to lunch on our first Sunday and quickly connected with friends.  I continue to be involved at Village because it has facilitated spiritual growth, allowed me to exercise my gifts, provided wonderful times of deep worship and provided lifetime friendships.
