Village Prayer – June 3, 2013

Jeremiah 29:7 says, “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

Monday night, June 3rd, marks the third of our four all-church prayer gatherings in 2013. Join us as we come together as the body of Christ. The focus of this gathering will be praying for our City and State. All are welcome as we come together in prayer.

Village Preschool Registration

Registration for Village Preschool has begun! Children who turn 3 or 4 years old before September 1, 2013 are eligible to enroll. The registration fee for returning students is $30.00 (non-refundable), while the registration fee for new students is $60.00 (non-refundable). New students will receive a school sweatshirt with their registration fee. The monthly fees will be as follows:

3-year old class – Tuesday and Thursday mornings – 9:00 – 11:30am – $125.00 per month
4-year old class – Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings – 9:00-11:30am – $150.00 per month – FULL
4-year old class – Monday, Wednesday & Friday extended day – 9:00am – 1:30pm – $200.00 per month – FULL

To enroll your child, please complete a Registration Form and turn it in to the church office along with your registration feel. If you would like your child added to the waiting list for either of the 4′s classes, please call the church office. If you have questions, please contact Donna Thomas.

Women’s Zumba Lesson

Saturday, May 25- 9:30-11:00am – Gym Free! Need exercise? Want to learn Zumba? Whether you’re 18 or 80 we’d love for you to join us for a lesson in Zumba. Bring water, wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, and be willing to work, laugh and learn a new form of exercise. Sign up at the Information Counter on the weekend or in the Church Office during the week. An Activity Participation Agreement must also be completed. For more information, please contact Judy Post.

Teddy Bear Picnic (6/4)

Tuesday, June 4 – 9:30-11:30am OR 1:00-3:00pm – Village Gym Children age 4 through kindergarten are invited to bring their stuffed animal and join the fun in the gym! There will be snacks, crafts, games, and more at this special event. Registration forms can be found in the church lobby or church office or can be downloaded here. Student Ministries Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Friday, June 7 - Village Gym - Dinner at 5:30pm - Dancing/Raffle at 7:00p Tickets: $10.00 per person or $30 for a family of 4 (children 5 and under free) Come and support Village’s youth ministry as we raise money for middle school and high school summer camps. Tickets will be available for purchase in the lobby during weekend worship services and in the church office during the week. Dinner will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage. In addition to dinner there will be a fun time of line dancing in the gym with Joyce Mattson. Each dinner ticket will receive a raffle ticket the night of the dinner. Additional tickets will be available for purchase the night of the dinner. Childcare will be available for children 0-3 years of age. Tilikum Day Camp (6/24-28)

June 24–28—Tilikum Day Camp, Newberg—$190 on or before May 31; $200 after May 31 Day Camp is for boys and girls in 1st through 5th grade. Activities include hiking, boating, swimming, songs, stories and more. A $25 non-refundable deposit must accompany your registration form to guarantee your spot. Registration forms are available at the Information Counter or in the church office or online Registration Form and Transportation Permission Slip. Both forms need to be completed to register your child. For more information please contact Sarah Meeds or Kevin Moore in the church office. If you are age 14 or older and are interested in being a counselor for day camp, please contact Kevin Moore in the church office.

Family Movie Night (7/12)

The Village Family Campout (8/9-11)

August 9-11, 2013- Nehalem Bay State Park

Yes, it is time to register for The Village Family Campout 2013. The dates for this year are August 9-11, 2013, with an option to come down earlier. Registrations will only be accepted with full payment. The cost is $35.00 per night, per site. Payments can be made by check, cash or online. Registration forms must also accompany your full payment. The Village Family Campout is a great opportunity to invite your friends and family. The community feeling of camping with 700 of your closest friends is unbelievable! And, what a great way to introduce your friends and family to your church family. We hope that you will take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Village Food Bank

These are the most needed food items: Peanut Butter & Jelly/ Jam (Grape or Berry), plastic jars only (maximum size 22 ounces)

We also are in need of…

Canned Peaches (in natural juice)

Apple Juice (maximum size 64 oz.)
Apple Sauce
Refried Beans
Canned Beef Stew

Please place your donations in the baskets in the lobby over the weekend or at the front office during the week. We are also partnering with Barnes Elementary to provide food for 10 students every weekend of the school year. Please join us as we serve our neighboring school. Ride the Village Shuttle Bus

Sundays 7:15am-1pm Meadow Park Middle School We now have a larger capacity shuttle, with easy walk up steps and roomy seats. We would like to encourage all regular attenders, choir members, and ministry volunteers, to park at Meadow Park Middle School, and ride the shuttle to save parking spaces for new visitors.

Looking for Parking Lot Greeters

We are seeking “Smiling Faces” to help direct traffic during all 3 weekend worship services. No experience necessary, training will be provided. We are asking for Villagers to make a 1 year commitment to serve when they can on the weekends. Can’t commit for a year, then sign up to be on our “Special Events” Greeter Team. We need extra help during Easter, Eggsplosion, Harvest Party, Christmas Eve, and other special events through out the year. Weekend worship services are a great time to help Villagers and guests connect with Christ. We work hard to create a warm, friendly environment and create a transforming worship experience. It’s a big job and we couldn’t do it without hundreds who volunteer in different areas. If you are interested in serving in one of the above areas, we could use you for just one service a month (more if you’d like – it’s fun to serve!). If you’re interested in the roles of Usher or Media Shout operator (running slides during worship and the sermon), contact Pastor Dean . If you’re interested in Greeting or serving in the Cafe, contact Crystal M . We provide training for all these positions.

Student Ministries Coffee Fundraiser

Middle School and High School students of Village will be selling 1 lb. bags of Longbottom’s coffee for $12 per one pound bag, to help offset the cost of Summer Camp. Payment envelopes will be available in the Village Cafe for you to place your money in and pick up your coffee. Fill out the order form below to ensure that we have the coffee you want. Red Cross Blood Drive

Second Thursday of every month from 1:30-7:00 p.m. in the Village Gym You may reserve a specific time to donate blood by calling 800-RED-CROSS. New volunteers are needed to serve at the monthly blood drive. If you would like to help out, please contact Kent Ahlschlager at (503) 641-5171. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with those outside the church who come to donate blood.
