Beaverton, Oregon

Beaverton Oregon is the 6th largest city in Oregon with a population of about 95,000.  Named among Money magazine’s 2016 top 10 Best Places to Live in the US, our low crime rate, quality schools, active community participation, accessibility to transportation, and clean air and water makes this city a great place to live and work.  An ethnically diverse community, approximately one-fourth of residents grew up without English and one-fifth of the population is foreign-born.  Beaverton is home to over 100 parks encompassing 1,000 acres including 30 miles of hiking trails and a network of bike paths. Located 7 miles west of Portland, living in Beaverton means you are close to big city amenities, the ski slopes of spectacular Mt. Hood to the east, and the rugged beautiful ocean beaches to the west.  Beaverton is part of the high tech industry corridor known as Silicon Forest.  Village Baptist Church is also located less than one mile from the Nike World Headquarters campus.

Beaverton is influenced deeply by Portland’s culture. Like Portlanders, Beaverton residents are physically active, socially progressive, and volunteer-minded. But Christianity Today writes that “unlike other cities that might be called ‘post-Christian’, Portland is a place where Christian faith has always been marginal.”  This opportunity is a chance for a lead pastor to join Village Baptist Church in being a beacon of hope and love to a largely un-churched region.
