Process for Raising Support at Village - Career

Selection Process

Because VBC supports the missionaries through partner agencies and organizations, it is VBC policy to ensure that all missionaries VBC sends out are well-prepared for their ministry.  VBC can help partner agencies and organizations determine missions candidates best suited for the task to be performed.  Partner agencies and organizations can give VBC a wealth of knowledge about issues, trends, and strategies for missions.  Interaction provides mutual benefits and assistance in reaching the world for Christ.  VBC wants partner agencies' and organizations' help in mobilizing people from VBC and inspiring VBC members to greater devotion and support.  To assist the Missions Commission in the evaluation of our missionaries, we recommend that the sending partner agencies and organizations submit, to the Missions Commission, an evaluation of the missionary each term.

In the selection of new candidates for support, an agency, organization, or individual need to fall within our "Criteria for Long Term Support." These are the steps that need to be followed:

Submit a pre-selection questionnaire.

  • Be interviewed by a member of the Short or Long Term sub-committee.
  • Agree with the doctrinal statement of VBC.
  • Agree with the terms, goals, and focus of VBC as set forth in the policies of the Missions Commission.
  • Indicate clearly salvation and call to missions.
  • Give an assurance that spiritual gifts will match their ministry.
  • Meet the VBC "Levels of Competency" as appropriate for the assignment.
  • Go on at least one missions trip with VBC or an approved partner agency or organization and be evaluated by the team leader.

Because of the broad spectrum of applications in which missionaries can work, especially tent makers, the only requirement is that their ministry ultimately result in people reached for Christ and churches planted.
