Community Care Ministries

Let's face it, life can be tough. It's rare to find someone who has not experienced some kind of loss, pain or difficulty. We all need help sometimes. When in distress, you need someone to reach out to you, care about what you are going through and help you in your time of need. We want to be that someone.

At Village, not only will you discover the hope and healing found in God's love, but you'll also discover foundational, biblical truths that will prepare you to weather any difficulty. At Village we want to walk with you through every stage of your life journey, because that is what families do for one another. No matter where you are in your season of life, we're happy to help you experience God's love and healing and, ultimately, the joy of helping others experience it too.

Crisis/Follow Up Care

Who do you call when crisis strikes in your life? Who can help? At Village, our crisis care ministries focus on sharing Christ's love in practical and meaningful ways to those in the midst of difficult circumstances such as hospitalization, illness, loss of a loved one, loss of employment or unforeseen family struggle or major life change. As a church family, we want to be there for you when you need us the most.

  • Hospital/Home Visitation
Are you or a loved one anticipating a hospital stay? Will you be recovering from a procedure at home? Whether a scheduled surgery, or an unexpected visit to the emergency room, our pastoral staff are always available to visit you at the hospital or in your home. Please contact our Community Care department at (503) 643-6511, or fill out the form at the bottom of the page, if we can be of service to you.
  • Grief Support
Grieving is something that only you can do for yourself, but it doesn't have to be something that you do alone. At Village, we want to support you through every stage in your personal journey. Our trained pastoral and lay ministry staff are available to help any way that we can. Please contact our Community Care department at (503) 643-6511 if we can be of service to you. What to do when you lose a loved one.
  • Food Bank
Village maintains a food bank that is available to help Villagers in times of job transition or financial difficulty. If we can be of help to you, please contact our main office at (503) 643-6511 to schedule an appointment to speak with a pastoral staff member. The food bank is open from 1-4 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Pastoral Crisis Response
Who do you call for support when crisis comes you way? At Village, we believe God calls us to care for one another, and as a church family, we want to be there when you need us. A member of your Village pastoral staff is on call 24 hours a day to assist families in times of crisis. If you are experiencing a true emergency after normal office hours, please dial (503) 972-8282 and a pastor will return your call as quickly as possible.
  • Pastoral Visitation
Difficulty and crisis can shape us into the people God wants us to be. Healing from difficulty and loss can involve different stages, feelings and steps. Sometimes it helps to talk with someone who really cares about you and your needs. At Village, your pastoral staff are available to meet with you, pray for you, and encourage you from God's word. Please contact our Community Care department at (503) 643-6511 to schedule a visit from one of our pastoral staff.
  • Prayer Support
When you are hurting, one of the greatest encouragements is to know that someone is praying for you. At Village, prayer is at the heart of all we do. By taking the time to fill out a Friendship Card at one of our services, or by emailing your prayer request to us, the pastoral staff can pray for you about the issues that concern you the most.
  • Divorce Recovery
Divorce can be a traumatic experience. Village, in conjunction with several other churches on the west side, offers the Divorce Recovery Workshop at various times throughout the year. Go to our Divorce Recovery page to learn more.
Preparation Care

At Village, our preparation care ministries will equip you to grow and persevere through difficulties by building a foundation rooted in the truths of God's word. This foundation gives us the ability to face the tough trials of life knowing that God walks beside us. By approaching these trials with faith, humility and knowledge, we can persevere through the storms of life. Village offers practical tools to prepare for crisis situations such as:

  • death
  • long-term illness
  • long-term financial planning options that are honoring to God, your family and others.

Funeral/Memorial Pre-Planning Booklet
This booklet contains everything you need to pre-plan your own funeral or memorial service. Please contact the Community Care department to receive a copy of this booklet.

For more information about any of these tools, please contact the Community Care department at (503) 643-6511.
